Moving Against the Grain with Malik Embree
Malik Embree is not your typical college student from Baltimore, Maryland. Malik is a founding member of "Against The Grain" a brand that currently makes music and has recently branched out into clothing. Their foray into the clothing sphere was met with higher than expected success, selling out quickly it has now been placed on back order.
The logo (featured below) that appears on the clothing, was designed by Malik and the other members of ATG. The words "In Beam We Trust" can be seen across the top. This is the motto of ATG and represents the "beam" of hard work and passion that will take them to the top. This same beam is represented by the blue streak across the bottom. Malik got the inspiration for this streak from the comet emoji.

Music is something that Malik said he has "always been around" and his passion for it oozes out when discussing it with him. When he was young he played the trombone and as he got older he was fortunate that he had access to a recording studio to make his music in. He said, "In high school, we'd just make beats and just rap." He picked up his love for rap on his own but is propelled forward by his friends, dreams, and other members of ATG.
The brand ATG is so important to Malik that he picked up Mass Communication as a major to help fulfil his dreams of turning it into a "mass media company in a way" that has its influence in many different entertainment and art spheres.
While Malik has achieved much, he is still a college student, allergic to peanuts, who knows how to enjoy a quick game of 2K Basketball or Madden and works hard for what he refers to as "Just a spot," a place to call his own.
