Pat Bell: Living in the mountains, longing for the sea. By Deborah Forde ENGL 336.

Patrick Bell, better known as Pat Bell is a laid back and down to earth junior at Frostburg State University. Bell majors in Mass Communication with a focus in Public Relations. Bell is a keen follower of the NBA and he is interested in perusing a career in sideline reporting, inspired by the late Craig Sager and his “crazy suits”! Although Bell comes from the D.C area, his favorite team is the Chicago Bulls. When asked who his favorite NBA star is, he keeps his cards close to his chest and simply responds while wearing a cheeky grin “I can’t say he is my favorite but Lebron James is definitely the best”.

Bell enjoys traveling and he has many happy memories of visiting the Caribbean island of Grenada where his mother was born and raised. Bell’s pride in his Grenadian roots is evident when he speaks of his memories from visiting the island as a child. Family vacations in Grenada are unique to any other because “it’s like living the simple life; you don’t have a cell phone or Wi-Fi or video games” but you are happy. One memory that stands out most to Bell when reminiscing on his vacations to the island is hunting a chicken and catching it with his bare hands before his aunt prepared it for dinner that evening! More information on the island of Grenada can be found here. Bell plans on returning to the island in the future and he would love to visit New Zealand to explore the beaches and try his hand at surfing because spending time at the beach is something he thoroughly enjoys while on vacation! Bell is well traveled and he has also visited various states in the US such as New York, Ohio and Florida to name but a few. Frostburg seems like an unusual choice of university for Bell, considering his love for the sun and sea, however, he only has one year left and he is content here because of the friendly students and staff.

In his spare time, Bell listens to J. Cole because he “talks about real things”.
