Patrick Broussoul is a senior at Frostburg State University
majoring in communication studies. He likes FSU overall, however if he knew
what he knew now he said he would not have chosen Frostburg for college. He
enjoys travelling, hiking, running, and reading. Broussoul exercises for fun
and says “I love the act of being fit.” His favorite football team is the
Washington Redskins, “unfortunately,” as he would say. In an effort to stay
away from sugar and eat healthy he drinks black coffee to curb his cravings. He
falters from his diet on weekends when he is on the road for track meets. He
always restarts his normal diet on Sunday when he returns. Broussoul’s favorite
super hero is the Hulk; he says he relates to the Hulk when he goes lifting. In
high school he played football, track, and a little soccer.
Patrick Broussoul moved to the United States when he was ten
years old with his elder brother. In a family of seven children Patrick found
himself somewhere in the middle as number four. He moved to the U.S. from the
Ivory Coast in West Africa. The Ivory Coast has been riddled with civil war
making it unsafe to visit. To see why Broussoul does not see himself returning
to the “dangerous” country click here. His father has since moved to Maryland. His mom is still living in the Ivory
Coast, he has two brothers that as far as he knows are living in Italy, one sibling in France, and the
remaining three are still in Africa. His dads warning for him when he moved to
the U.S. was to not mess up like his brother or he would end up like him.
He does not know exactly what he wants to do when he is done
college but has some ideas including project management, travelling, and event
planning. He says he basically wants to build something out of nothing. He
wants to use his degree to travel and communicate with people all around the
world. Being from the Ivory Coast Broussoul is fluent in French, aside from a
few words he forgets sometimes. In 20 years he wants to have travelled a lot, have
a nice house that’s not too big in the mountains, and have “a crap ton of cars.”
His goal is he “wants to find something to be passionate about.”
