Passionate about Progression

         Katie Epps is a passionate nineteen year old born June 4th, 1996. Katie Epps was born in Delaware. She moved to Carroll County, Maryland at the age of seven.  She is an only child. Although she is an only child she still has the companionship of her three dogs that she loves so much. Katie is an animal lover and at one point in her life she did want to be a vet.  However, Katie knew that with her love for animals she did not want to see animals suffer. Katie’s family lives in Guam. Guam is roughly a 18 hour flight from Maryland. From interviewing Katie Epps when asked how would she describe her personality she said, “I’m pretty brash, I don’t tend to filter myself often if at all”. She enjoys arguing and getting her opinion across.  Ms. Epps also stated and showed her confidence. She said, “ I don’t need other peoples approval of me”. Katie’s confidence is very strong.

        Katie has done so much in nineteen years. She was involved in the marching band at her high school doing color guard all four years oh high school. She had to get surgery one year doing color guard, however that did not stop the strong young individual. Although Katie was not able to do color guard one semester, her passion drove her to continue with it but this time as a coach. Katie has also traveled a lot. She has taken the 18 hour flight to Guam to see her family, from this flight Katie was able to take a pit stop in Japan. Katie has also been to places including, Florida, Texas, Ohio, Nevada, New York, Hawaii, and California. When Katie went to New York she able to go indoor skydiving. As well as when Katie went to New York she was able to see some broad way musicals. Some of these musicals include Mamma Mia and The Lion King. In Katie’s spare time she enjoys reading and movies. Katie especially likes Harry Potter and documentaries. Katie also has a strong interest in pop culture.

        Katie also has been involved in several things in college. Katie is currently a residence assistant for the dorm, Simpson. She is also part of the sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha.  Katie stated, “Joining Alpha Sigma Alpha is one of the best decisions I’ve made since I came to college. When Katie first came to Frostburg State University her initial major was psychology. She soon changed it to English when she realized her passion for writing.  She is an English major with a focus in professional writing. Her goal is to work at a big broadcasting company such as Good Morning America. If not that she would love to work for Rolling Stone due to the fact they focus on pop culture and actual news. Katie thinks that the generation now needs something and essentially wants to be able to make a difference.
