Chris
Brown’s Vigilante
By:
Kate Sine, ENGL 336
Randi Watson is a
second-year Mass Comm Major at Frostburg State University. Watson originates
from Baltimore and is from a rich background. Due to the fact that both of her
parents hail from Jamaica and she has family members who still reside there.
“I
feel more connected in Jamaica, you feel like you are part of the family.
People know if somethings wrong, neighbors make dishes for you, it’s just such
a rich culture.” Watson explains.
Randi’s older brother was one of
the reasons that she wanted to attend Frostburg State, along with the fact that
she enjoyed the mountainous campus, the fact that it is affordable and she
enjoyed the fact that they had a good Mass Communications program. The program
teaches students how to write professionally, gain public speaking skills, and be
able to conduct persuasive speeches. Watson’s goal is to hopefully becoming a PR
agent for companies and or celebrities.
The movie entitled “Christmas Cupid”
inspired Randi to plan on becoming a PR agent. Christmas Cupid is about an agent
having a reckless childhood celebrity as her client. Throughout the movie, the
agent fights off paparazzi from spinning stories on the young adult. Even when
the star passes away, the agent holds a respectable memorial for her lost
client.
“I want to be the one
who is there to damage control.” Watson says.
If Randi Watson could
represent a celebrity, it would be Chris Brown.
“He is a dynamic
person, he never stays the same and he is a great artist people focus on the
Rhianna situation but he has changed due to the fact that he now has a child to
look after… there is just so much that can be spun on him.” says Watson. One
quality that Watson could bring to this field she is embarking is that she
considers herself a great mediator. A key item when you are cancelling out
tabloids and are head of damage control. Or to put it in Watson’s words, “I
like to solve problems, which is really funny because I don’t like math.”
This is what it takes to become a PR agent
