                                                 By: Latisha Lewis

On February 23, 2015 Mary-Jordy gave insight to her childhood and family life. Jordy age 20 is a junior at Frostburg State University; however, this semester she is staying off campus in a neighboring community. Jordy’s permanent place of residence is  Westminster, Maryland which is where she was raised in a two parent household along with siblings. In addition, Jordy was home-schooled and she believes this has a substantial impact on the person she is today. Majority of people are raised leaning towards one parent more than the other. For instance, some people title themselves as a mommy or daddy person. Yet, she believes that her mom and dad have equal impacts in her life. Jordy’s exact words to explain it was, “My mom and my dad had huge roles in my upbringing.”

Jordy has a deeper understanding of a lot of life’s curve balls. Growing up two of her siblings had mental illnesses. One of her siblings suffered from bipolar disorder while another endured schizophrenia. Having siblings with differences aided Jordy into being understanding when it comes to mental illness and differences. Though, she believes that she could have been more empathetic to her siblings when she was growing up. Nevertheless, if she had acquired the maturity and understanding that she has gained with age she would have been perfect in the situation. Here is an article that touches on having siblings with Mary Jordy.  In another light, Jordy collects big boxes of makeup. She says that her mother threatens to dispose of some of her makeup. Yet, her sister frequently asks Jordy to do her makeup for her before she leaves for events.

Jordy also talks about an age she would like to return to from her childhood and how she wants to raise her own family one day. She says, “I would like to turn to the age ten, my family had a great sense of innocence and togetherness.” In addition, she talks about the aspiration of raising kids. Yet, she does not have in mind a set number of kids she wants to conceive. Jordy claims that, “Having kids is more than a number and I would be happy with only one child.”
