Mia Williams, a sophomore at Frostburg State University is
on the path to success. Her bubbly personality, positive outlook on life, and
her love for people make her a well-rounded individual. Williams aspires to be
a news reporter for a major network. At the age of 19, she is serious and working
towards her long term goal. She is a Mass communication major with a minor in
Journalism. She is a F.S.U. sports editor and senior writer for The Bottom Line
newspaper. Mia is also a Student Affairs chairman for the Student Government
Association. Outside of school she attends church, goes bowling with her friends , and enjoys
watching beautiful scenery.
Williams advises young woman to “learn how to love yourself.
It helps you maintain healthy relationships with others and a career.” Along
with on-air work she wants to mentor young women and inspire them to follow
their dreams despite limitations that may come in their path. She wants to be
a relatable television personality whom people wish to look up to.
Williams says, “The sky is the limit, whatever God has for
me, I’m walking in His footsteps”. She is strong in her Christian faith and aims
to exhibits love through her daily actions. Her mom, Aunt Florence, and cousin
Bridgette serve as one of her biggest inspirations and support system. At a
young age her family instilled in her the importance of family. She is thankful
for the sacrifices her parents made by putting her through a private school
from her elementary to high school years. Her childhood in Bowie, MD impacted
her life in a positive way.
Williams has previously interned at WDBJ7 news station, and
is in the process of applying to internships for the upcoming summer. To date
she has applied to thirteen internships and is awaiting for responses. Williams
believes “You can hear a million no’s, but it only takes one yes”. This is the
mentality she has when going forward with her career pursuits. Williams strives
to impact her generation with her words of encouragement and positive attitude.
She says it’s all about the positivity; with an energetic spirit and positive
mindset there is no stopping Mia Williams from achieving her dreams.
