Warm Weather Warriors

Spring has officially sprung in Frostburg, and students and staff members at Frostburg State University are preparing for Spring Break, a week off of school to relax, visit with loved ones, and, in some cases, to catch up on work.

Jeter Rosario, a freshman Earth Science major minoring in Secondary Education from Elkton, Maryland, plans to fly to Sac City, Iowa to visit his girlfriend, Elizabeth, who he met through the micro-blogging website, Tumblr. The two have been dating for a year and a half. On the topic of online dating, Rosario says, “It’s 2016. It’s prime time. It’s not different [than dating in person].”

Judy Abbot, the information desk manager at the Lane University Center, just returned from a trip to Las Vegas, a place she visits “at least twice a year,” and hopes to move someday, so she’ll be working here on campus over break. “For us, it’s a time to catch up on work. For me, I’ll be emptying out the lost and found,” she said with a laugh.

Aleya Pierce and Dasia Magginson were taking advantage of the warm weather sitting outside of CCIT. Pierce, a sophomore Criminal Justice major minoring in Psychology, plans to return to her hometown of Germantown, where she will hang out with friends and babysit her niece, 3, and nephew, 1. Magginson, a senior Early Childhood/ Elementary Education major from Baltimore County is staying in the area to work as a waitress at the Cornucopia CafĂ© in Grantsville, where she has worked since September.
