Chicago's Bloody August, Tallied Day by Day
August has been the bloodiest month in Chicago. There has been 425 gun homicides since January first of 2016. This number is higher than the overall total of gun homicides of 2015. It has been recorded that in August alone, there has been 76 people murdered and 373 injured by gun violence. There are racial tensions as well as some say that it is more likely for an African American in Chicago to be shot than an average Chicago citizen. Dwyane Wade had made a tweet addressing a family member being killed on August 26. Not even a few hours after that incident, another citizen was shot.
