Bailey Kight: A Voice to be Heard

To be as busy as she is, she still somehow finds the time to be compassionate as well. As the Vice President of the International English Honor Society, also known as Sigma Tau Delta, Bailey Kight keeps her hands full and deeply rooted into Frostburg State's campus community. Balancing a load of 18 credits this semester while taking on the role of being both a writing tutor and a success mentor to other college students is no effortless task. "I absolutely love to write. I've been writing seriously since I was about eleven. Looking back, it probably was terrible but pretty good for an eleven year old." Excitement oozes out as the seconds pass by and Bailey continues to go into depth about her early childhood years in North Hagerstown. "Too bad you're not an English major! I'm always ready to recruit new people to my org " Bailey said as she was describing her rigorous schedule. Not only has she been academically involved, but socially asserting herself has obviously been a focal point in her collegiate career also as Bailey has joined Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. The 20 year old English major has no room for modesty nor an apologetic spirit as she is by far one of the most driven and aspiring individuals among her peers. Simultaneously aiming her kind heart as well as a vibrant personality toward bettering herself along with the world around her every day is just a snippet of the justice that can be done with words. In conjunction with her every day obligations, Bailey possesses perhaps the most commendable of traits: being an advocate for raising mental health awareness. Sympathetic with pure intentions, Bailey actually plans on starting her own organization in the future to benefit people with mental illnesses looking for an outlet of comfort. Her favorite existing organization represents everything she stands for, shaping many of her ambitions for the future. " Out of all of them, my favorite would probably be the Crisis Text Line" Bailey said when expressing her personal feelings on the subject. Needless to say, she has taken the phrase "don't put all your eggs in one basket" into account and incorporated it into her lifestyle. As an already accomplished young woman, more is sure to come in time as she seeks and conquers one day at a time.
