Having a Wife Who is the Main Breadwinner is Apparently Bad for a Husband’s Health
Research conducted by Rutgers University, has found that men that earn less money than their wives tend to have more health issues. The study states that men who earn less suffer both physically and psychologically. They had 2,000 couples partake in their study, and they monitored the changes in earning and status throughout a period of time. The finding of the research states that, "Wives increasingly out-earn their husbands and this may undermine men's well-being.We found that violating cultural expectations, such as the masculinity ideal of male bread-winning, is associated with older men's poorer health (Pavey)". The findings conclude that men in-fact suffer more stress-related illness as well as heart problems and diabetes if they are not the breadwinner of the family.
