JJ Jones: Find the Beauty in the Little Things

JJ Jones: Find the Beauty in the Little Things
Story by: Brooke Erickson

FROSTBURG - JaJuan "JJ" Jones is a 20-year-old Frostburg State University senior studying Mass Communication with a focus in Video Production. JJ's hobby is photography. JJ is not exactly sure what he would like to do with his degree, but he knows that whatever he does, he wants it to be behind a camera. He gets to see a new perspective of the world, which includes the smaller things that result in being more defined through a pair of lenses.

JJ believes that his best quality is how humble he is. JJ believes that humbleness comes from the fact that his mom raised him by herself for most of his life. Although being raised as an only child until he was 12 years old, knowing that his mom went above and beyond in everything she did for their family, JJ says "no matter what, it never changed who I was." He explained that his mother instilled a hardworking attitude in him which lead him to live an involved life.

JJ is the Host of "The Frostburg Experience", a TV show that is aired on FSU TV3 twice a semester. JJ is also involved in the beginning stages of creating a photography club. With this, he is hoping to portray Frostburg in a more positive light, making campus more appealing and beautiful to potential students. JJ is an active member in My Brother's Keeper, which is an organization that uplifts minority students, helps them with establishing career goals, and getting members ready for life after college.

When asked what he share that could change the world, he said "I would say that there's beauty in everything" He mentioned taking moments to not be judgmental and for everyone to stop focusing on the negative. One last reminder that JJ would like for everyone to know is that "To change the world, we need to get insight from others and uplift each other as well."
