Frostburg Appalachian Festval: A Lively Community

The Frostburg State University Appalachian Festival carrying many traditions as well as a reputation for providing an exciting atmosphere for everyone did nothing shy of the same this time around. Food, dancing, and joyous interactions flooded the scene of the upper quad and the renowned Main Street all weekend long, open to any and everybody around. Whether it was the satisfying, sweet smell of baked goods scattered all around or the refreshing mountain air of western Maryland that reals you into attendance, you simply couldn't go wrong by taking part in the festivities. Even through the gloomy portions of the afternoon, somehow the positive vibes and laughter seemed to be bountiful amongst the friendly faces that floated by and by in the multitude. Such an informing and historic environment was sought after by many families, college students, faculty, and locals with the hopes of uplifting the Frostburg community while raising awareness for various causes and happenings. It was actually quite heartwarming of a scene to see fathers walk their sons around the goat pin or mothers allow their daughters to sport their fancy hats around all day. Almost as if everyone was sharing one big astonishing moment, the overall mood of evening took off from the start and never came down.

The re-imagining of past times in Frostburg communities was brought to life vividly and most accurately by actors and actresses, most of which were born and raised locally. Not only were the presentations of film and live reenactment more to add to the creative arrangements of what was already provided, but it was even more entertaining than one could have imagined. The preservation of the community was heavily taken into account and made sure to be seen as a priority throughout the duration of the festival. The essential idea of the verbal presentations was centered around building a healthy economy and keeping every member of this active community conscientious of the role they play. Displayed with a good balance of momentousness and leisure, the Frostburg State University Appalachian Festival was a success in 2017 as it has been in past years also. As an event sponsored by the community for the community, it would be a shame to miss out on such an opportunity in years to come.
